St Ives woodland maintenance event – Saturday, 15th June, 2024

Join us for a fulfilling day of volunteering at St Ives, Bingley! This session will focus on removing invasive plants, such as Himalayan Balsam. Your participation will not only help preserve the natural habitat but also contribute to the flourishing biodiversity of our local woodlands. Come prepared to make a tangible difference and enjoy the beauty of nature alongside like-minded individuals.

  • This is an invitation only event for registered participants. People should only attend sessions for which they have received a confirmation of successful registration.

Is there a recommended parking area for participants?   

Volunteers should park at the main Council car park beside Bingley St Ives Golf Club as it is the closest to the meeting location.

Do volunteers have to stay for the entire session? 

No – Volunteers can choose to leave sessions early, but it is important that they inform one of the event organisers and complete the sign-out form with the time they have left. It is preferred that registrants join the session from the beginning so that they receive important safety information and guidance.

Will there be a demonstration before activities takes place?    

At the start of the event, volunteers will be given guidance on using tools, a health and safety briefing and any relevant demonstrations.

What tools and supplies will be supplied to volunteers?   

Volunteers will be provided with any tools that are necessary for the session.

What should the volunteer wear?   

We recommend that volunteers should wear long trousers and long sleeved clothing. Please dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions and ensure you bring any extra clothing and accessories needed, such as sun cream or insect repellent. It is important to wear robust outdoor boots or shoes with sturdy soles. Please avoid trainers and sports shoes as they are unsuitable for the conditions. Organisers do reserve the right to refuse participation for anybody inappropriately dressed.

Where are there toilet facilities located at the site?   

Toilets are not available at the work site. The closest facilities can be found at the Play Area car park. Additional facilities are available at The Ivy Kitchen.

What should volunteers bring?   

Refreshments will not be supplied at the event. Volunteers can either bring their own or purchase them from the Ivy Kitchen, offering a selection of hot drinks and snacks. If the session runs through lunch, we recommend bringing provisions including food and drinks.

Is it permissible for participants to bring dogs to the event?   

Participating volunteers should not bring dogs.
