At Cliffe Castle some areas are now in their fourth year of meadow management and are showing a steady increase in the number of different plants.
Today’s prize find looks like Tuberous Comfrey (Symphytum tuberosum), it has a white or cream flower compared with the usual mauve flower of common comfrey. Comfreys are often called knitbone due to their old use in poultices to help heal broken bones. Today comfreys are used as “green manure” or a liquid feed for tomatoes.
We’d love to see your pictures of wildflowers and plants in your park.
