As part of National Tree Week (23 November – 1 December) pupils from Reevy Hill Primary School worked with Bradford Council Parks and Greenspaces, Woodlands and Neighbourhoods staff, supported by representatives from Incommunities and Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College to plant trees and shrubs. Cherry trees, a damson, a crab apple, a hazel nut and a walnut tree were planted to attract pollinators and brighten up the area. They hope to keep an eye on the trees and bulbs, and will be back to check on how they are growing, as their school is close by. Along with getting their hands dirty, the children heard from Andrew Cutts of the Council’s Trees and Woodlands team about insects which will act as pollinators for the flowers on the fruit and nut trees.
