West Yorkshire folk artist HerOrangeCoat has captured the magic of Judy Woods in Bradford in her new song The Algae and Hope Grow, part of her upcoming EP The Woodland Sessions, out 20 February.

Created through support from Youth Music’s NextGen Fund, the EP was crafted entirely outdoors, with each track written and recorded in a single day in a different woodland. In Judy Woods, HerOrangeCoat sat among the moss, streams, and twisting pathways, using her ukulele and voice to reflect the area’s atmosphere and folklore. The result is an intimate field recording that brings listeners directly into the heart of the woods.

Hailing from West Yorkshire, HerOrangeCoat is known for her reflective, melancholy-infused sound—music that feels both personal and rooted in place.
