Child in a play area

Play Areas

There are over one hundred and forty play areas the Bradford District, many of them within Parks or Recreation Grounds.

Article 31 of the United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child States:

Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.

In addition to conventional play areas we also provide Skateparks, BMX facilities and Multi-Use games courts for older children and young people.

The service works with local groups to create new play areas. This may include helping them apply for funding, or with design and sourcing the best equipment.

All play areas managed by the service are inspected by qualified staff, on a regular basis, to ensure they are maintained in a safe and good condition.
