Six Bradford parks have been named among the best in the country
Lister Park, Manningham, Peel Park, Bolton Road, Roberts Park, Saltaire, Harold Park, Low Moor, St Ives Estate, Bingley and Central Park, Haworth, have all received a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country and is run by environmental charities Keep Britain Tidy, The Conservation Volunteers and GreenSpace.
Following its refurbishment, Roberts Park in Saltaire has won the award for the second time while Lister Park in Manningham has won the accolade 11 years on the run.
Each park received a pre-arranged visit from the Green Flag judges except Peel Park which was judged by a ‘secret shopper'-style unannounced visit by a judge.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council's Portfolio holder with responsibility for Environment and Sport, said: "This is a marvellous achievement."Full credit must go to staff who work so hard throughout the year to maintain our parks to a high standard, and to the volunteers of friends groups who help to drive improvements."
"Residents and visitors to Bradford enjoy our parks and appreciate the extremely high standard of care taken by those who look after them.
"Bradford is fortunate to have such wonderful parks and green spaces which are a benefit for everyone in the community.”
